
Gardeners love saplings of red maple, but they don’t like to grow them in containers.

Here’s how to grow saplings and keep them healthy and beautiful.1.
Choose a size2.
Make sure the leaves are not too dry3.
Fill a small jar with water and place the leaves in the jar.4.
Add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar to the top of the jar, so it does not fall off.5.
Let the leaves rest for about 10 minutes before cutting into 1/4-inch cubes.6.
Drain the cubes and discard the sugar.7.
Cut the saplings into 2-inch pieces and store in the fridge for up to a month.8.
Cut into 1-inch squares.9.
Store in a tightly covered container in the freezer for up a month before cutting.10.
Add fresh, green and/or white peppercorns to the mixture and simmer for 10 minutes until softened.11.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
